Hedges Homers, Hebner Dazzles, Where’s My Phone
It’s the last day of the set here in South Bend, and the TinCaps are looking to pick up the series victory. A grand slam by Austin Hedges last night, combined with five shutout innings from Cody Hebner made for a good combination as Fort Wayne cruised to an 8-1 win. Take a listen to today’s TinCaps report to hear the call of the grand slam, and to hear from starter Matt Wisler. We’ll talk about his first start and the reception he’s gotten from his hometown of Bryan, Ohio, just about an hour east of Fort Wayne. Since he was in high school last year, I asked him if he had a prom date at this time last year…he confirmed that he did. Listen away!
That made me think back to when I was in high school. Remember when you wore your hair a certain way, or wore a certain outfit that you thought was the coolest? Bellbottoms were once in style, so was tie-dye (maybe), you know…all that kind of stuff. Well, I once thought I was really cool, too. My senior year of high school, I decided to let my hair grow a little bit. Since I asked Matt to talk about his high school prom, I figured it’s only fair that I share a photo from mine:
The problem here is that not only was that hairstyle never cool, it definitely never looked good. In fact, I can remember my high school basketball coach calling it, at one point, “The worst haircut of all time”. In retrospect, thank you, Coach Mayfield.
I think that picture is hilarious, though. It was just my old high school prom date’s birthday, and I posted the picture of us (she’s cropped out on the right) on her Facebook wall as a joke. If you can’t laugh at yourself, what can you laugh at?
WHERE’S ME KEYS? WHERE’S ME PHONE?
For the first time I can ever remember, I left my house without taking my phone, er, mobile, with me today. It was a scary experience. I use my phone for everything: time, email, Twitter, Facebook, texting, Words With Friends (challenge me–mikecouzens), etc. I was only gone for a few hours, but somehow I thought the world would end without my phone. Obviously, I’m still here.
That’s why when I came across this video today, I found it hilariously apropos. The people on Britain’s Got Talent are going crazy for this guy, and Simon Cowell is having none of it. We still love you, Simon.
I’m not the biggest Adele fan, but when this songs comes on the radio, I can’t say I don’t enjoy it. That said, take it away, Adele!
